AFGHANISTAN
Afghanistan is a landlocked country located within South Asia and Central Asia with a population of 34 million. Afghanistan is bordered by Pakistan in the south and east; Iran in the west; Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan in the north; and China in the far northeast.
We have not been in Afghanistan as some areas are very dangerous for westerners. We were at the tajik border and we took pictures of Hindu Kush mountains and villages from there. The border is a wild river and is very long.
We just hope, one day, that Afghanistan will be in peace to visit it.
Warning : Visiting Afghanistan can be extremely dangerous, as the country is technically a war zone. The Government maintains little control over large parts of the country. Terrorism is a huge problem, with Government forces fighting against Taliban insurgents.
