Alsace
Alsace is close to Germany’s east side and is incredibly famous for its wine: confidently claiming the mantle for the most delicious and complex whites in the world; its architecture is as particular as its wines. Cities such as Strasbourg and Mulhouse exemplify this northeastern region situated between the Rhine and the mountains of Vosges. Its great variety of regional dishes have evolved from the abundance of local produce and from the traditional dishes of Poland, Germany, and Austria all of which have influenced Alsatian gastronomy. Expect to eat rich creamy onion tarts, escargot in garlic parsley butter, sliced goose livers and truffles, or choucroute, as well as terrines, and drink well-rounded beers and powerful fruit brandies.
