BORDEAUX - Bordelais

The area of Bordeaux lies along the Atlantic coast and close to the river Garonne. It goes without saying that the reputation for complex full-bodied wines is world-renowned, making it the sommelier’s choice for wine-tasting, as well as its other gastronomic delights. Wine has been produced in this region since the 8th century; however, the real boom period came in the 18th century when it was trading with the British Isles and Germany. Among its produce include the rich Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Margaux, Saint Estephe, Medoc and Graves, also sub-regions of Bordeaux itself. As well as an unparalleled excellence for its vineyards, there are many cities, castles or monuments around to walk-off any hazy afternoons; and don’t forget to participate in gourmet touring cooking classes or wine tasting if you appreciate good wines!
