Brittany

Brittany is an area on the west side of France, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The area is large, but if you don’t have a lot of time we suggest you visit Saint-Malo in the North. Saint-Malo is a walled city from corsairs or Mont Saint-Michel which is a famous monastery located on a spectacular rocky island. Although a small fraction of the people still speak Breton, the historic language, and wear the traditional clothing, its traditions and customs are celebrated mostly on special days.  Expect to feast on its famous crepes filled with sweets like chocolate or fruit, or salted with mushrooms, ham, eggs and cheese. Debate about the correct ingredients: buckwheat, mostly used for salted galettes or wheatflour, mostly used for sweet crepe de froment.  The ocean also provides fresh fish and sea food used for tasty dishes.
