Burgundy - Bourgogne

The Burgundy area is ultimately famous for its intoxicating wines. It differs significantly from Bordeaux in the size of its vineyards which are incredibly small, and each with a specific name, when it comes to production techniques. The region itself lies in between the vast cereal plains of northern France and the valley of the Rhône and the south. Wine and food has undoubtedly shaped the Burgundian way-of-life, deriving tradition from the monks of Cluny and Citeaux, and exemplified by Michelin starred restaurants in Joigny, Vezelay, Saulieu and Chagny and the notoriously excellent wines of Chablis, Nuits Saint Georges, Chambertin, Vosne Romanee, Meursault.
