Guinea-Bissau
Guinea-Bissau, officially the Republic of Guinea-Bissau borders Senegal to the north and Guinea to the south-east and the capital city is Bissau.
The Bissagos Islands, also spelled Bijagós are a group of about 88 islands and islets located in the Atlantic Ocean. There is a high diversity of ecosystems: mangroves with intertidal zones, palm forests, dry and semi-dry forests, secondary and degraded forests, coastal savanna, sand banks and aquatic zones. The archipelago was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1996. The Bijagos are still a traditional people and most of them practice their animist faith and speak their ethnic language, in addition to the Portuguese-African creole spoken by the majority of the citizens of Guinea-Bissau. Sea turtles lay their eggs on some Bijagos islands at night.

View of the beach early Morning - Sea turtles lay their eggs on some Bijagos islands. They arrive at high tide and reach the highest point of the beaches to dig the nest, leaving large traces on the sand.

View of the beach with day light - Sea turtles lay their eggs on some Bijagos islands. They arrive at high tide and reach the highest point of the beaches to dig the nest, leaving large traces on the sand. Sea turtles arrived exactly where they were born. So some arrived directly on a beach and it's more easy. But some have to cross the rocks, more easy at high tide and exhausting at low tide.

Morning on the beach - this turtle was delayed and did not reach the ocean after laying her eggs. This one tried to cross the mangrove but found herself stuck by the roots. After a while, she backs off and chooses another path to the ocean.
