BONAIRE (Netherlands)
Located 80 kilometers north of Venezuela in the warm waters of the southern Caribbean, Bonaire is a special municipality within the country of the Netherlands and Kralendijk is the capital city and main port of the island.
Bonaire is primarily known as a diver’s paradise, because of the perfect conditions for shore diving. But it’s just as popular with windsurfers, kiteboarders and sailing enthusiasts. And this also applies to rest-seekers and nature lovers.
Throughout Bonaire’s elevated northern end, visitors can see a desert landscape : rocky with many cactus species : reminiscent of the American southwest.

Rincon Village is the oldest village on Bonaire. Additionally, it is the oldest in continual existence within the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba.

Originally settled by the Spanish in the early 1500’s, Rincon was strategically nestled within a valley to ward off impending danger from pirates and other threats.
