Luleå is situated at the mouth of the Lule River, in the northwest corner of the Gulf of Bothnia.The Luleå archipelago is reachable through tour boats during the summer.
Few kilometers from Luleå, Gammelstad is the old church village (1492) added to the Unesco list in 1992.
