With a total surface area of 582.4 square kilometres (348 in Switzerland and 234 in France), the lake Léman (also called Lake Geneva) is 72.3 kilometres long, from Geneva to Villeneuve, and averages 10 km wide. Its maximum depth is 309.7 metres and it has 167 km of coastline.
Geneva attracts tourists from around the world for its unique setting on the shores of Western Europe’s largest lake and a magnificent view of Mont-Blanc, the highest peak in Europe.
Lausanne, the second-largest city on Lake Geneva, combines a dynamic commercial town with the locality of a holiday resort.
